What to Do After a Car Accident
NEVER TALK TO THE OTHER DRIVER’S INSURANCE COMPANY!!
If you are involved in a serious car crash, you should do a few things: (1) call 911; (2) make sure you and your passengers are out of harm’s way; (3) exchange insurance information with the other driver; (4) take photographs of the scene; (5) get contact information from anyone who may have witnessed the crash; (6) get a police report number from the responding officer.
If you are injured, do not disregard your injury, because it could develop into a worsening condition. Seek medical attention first.
After you get the police report number, try to get the names and phone numbers of anyone who may have witnessed the crash. The police may not have the time or bandwidth to secure the names of all the witnesses who had important information concerning the crash.
